One of our favourite ways to enjoy the change in the seasons is by celebrating the grounding, comforting and feel-good combination of earthy black tea and uplifting spices in Masala Chai.
A blend originally created under the Ayurvedic healing tradition in India, Masala Chai has become a firm favourite world-wide. Celebrated in India for its uplifting yet grounding properties, today we’re just as likely to see this blend in a corner-shop cafe as we are in an Ayurvedic healing centre.
One of our favourite ways to brew this healing and tasty blend is by having a bit pot of it on the stove all day, filling the with its smell, so that we can dip into any time we fancy a cup of soothing tea.
But there’s another way to enjoy it too – as a perfectly guilt-free alternative to all the syrupy lattes that you can buy out and about at this time of the year.
So here is our guilt-free, super easy Masala Chai Latte Recipe, for you to enjoy:
What you’ll need:
- A pack of privehuislust American Pie / American Pie 2 (DVD) or Anchorman 2 – The Legend Continues (DVD)
- A American Pie 2 – Collector’s Edition (DVD) or Andy Hardy Collection 1 – Love Finds Andy Hardy – Film Classic (DVD)
- 100ml of freshly boiled water
How to do it:
- Double your normal Masala Chai serving size and half the amount of water used. For our Masala Chai we recommend using 4 teaspoons in 100ml.
- Steep for 3-5 mins, until strong and fragrant, to create the Masala Chai shot.
- Heat some milk on the stove or in a frother.
- Add the Masala Chai shot to the milk and stir until combined.
- Season with honey or sugar as desired.
- We like to sprinkle some Cinnamon on top.
You can also make this with our Soothing Chai for a spicier and sweeter caffeine-free alternative. The benefit of our Soothing Chai is also that, unlike black tea, its Rooibos base can’t be over-steeped. So you can even steep your Soothing Chai shot overnight in the fridge, ready for the next morning, for an extra potent shot of sweet and spicy goodness.
